This module aims to develop students' knowledge and understanding of Curriculum Dance drawing upon a variety of dance styles including other cultural and sub-cultural themes. It aims to generate an appreciation of Dance through compositional creation which includes both acquisition of choreographic material but also the opportunity to experience the choreographic processes within a constructivist framework. It will seek to use stimuli to draw upon everyday materials and concepts in order to provide a situated and contextual experience. It will use dance as a medium through which to explore cultural and social diversity and vice versa. It will draw upon theory such as Laban in order to shape continuity and progression through both workshop and creative Dance. It will also develop the skills required to compose as an individual and as part of a group and will develop pedagogic skills in preparation for teaching practice. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
