Description
This module aims to provide the student with a 3-4 month clinical experience placement in Ireland or abroad. Host institutions / centres will be identified for the students. The aims of the placement are1. to gain 20 hours per week 'hands-on' clinical experience in assessing and discussing cases in a supervised environment2. to attend available / suitable academic modules and courses in the host institution3. to experience the Athletic Training (or other clinical sports medicine) profession at work in a new and non-DCU environment

Learning Outcomes
1. Describe the operation of an Athletic Training (or other professional sports medicine) practice in a busy sports participation environment
2. Summarise his/her own experience over a 3 month full-time placement period
3. Complete a substantial (20 hours / week) commitment to a health care team to the satisfaction of the supervisor
4. Demonstrate clinical competence in assessment of injured athletes
5. Demonstrate an ability to behave with injured athletes in a professional and courteous manner
6. Produce a comprehensive case write-up dealing with all aspects of the case chosen
