DCU has several specialised research centres and hosts others that involve collaborations with other Higher Education Institutions and industry. The research centres generally fall into the scope of DCU's Research and Enterprise Hubs. Further information can be found from the web links below.  

 INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATIONS TECHNOLOGY
  • National Centre for Plasma Science and Technology( NCPST –  The centre focuses on plasma science and technology is the platform that underpins numerous technological applications that are used in numerous industries including, semiconductor and microsystem manufacture, surface engineering of mechnical components and medical devices, environmental, lighting and energy.
  • Rince Institute -an Irish national research institute focussed on innovation in engineering technologies.
  • ADAPT – ADAPT is a dynamic research centre that combines the world-class expertise of researchers at four universities (TCD, DCU, UCD and DIT) with that of its industry partners to produce ground-breaking digital content and media innovations. Download brochure here.
  • INSIGHT – Insight is one of the biggest data analytics centres in Europe. It undertakes high-impact research, seeks to derive value from Big Data and provides innovative technology solutions for industry and society by enabling better decision-making. Download brochure here
  • Centre for Future Networks and Communications (Connect): CONNECT is a flagship research centre for communications networking, services, applications and technologies. Its mission is to research, develop and innovate solutions to the communications challenges facing society.   • Irish Photonics Integration Centre (IPIC) - The centre focus in developing new light-enabled technologies. Photonics is a key enabling technology that underpins the internet and affects diverse industries such as medical devices, renewable energy, manufacturing and environmental monitoring.Download brochure here
  • Irish Centre for Cloud Computing and Commerce (IC4) – a  centre of excellence for innovation and applied research, that accelerates the development and adoption of Cloud technology and show cases Ireland's capabilities in this field. Download brochure here.
  • Centre for Advancement of Science Teaching and Learning – CASTeL research is focussed on 'the classroom and the lab' – on enhancing the impact of the full spectrum of teaching, learning and assessment activities in mathematics and science.
  • The Irish Software Research Centre (LERO): Lero brings together leading software teams from universities and institutes of technology in a co-ordinated centre of research excellence with a strong industry focus. Download brochure here
  • Scientific Computing and Complex Systems Modelling – SCI-SYM is a centre of excellence for researchers working in high performance computing (HPC) applied to computational and mathematical models for complex systems in engineering, natural and applied sciences

  • National Centre for Sensor Research (NCSR) – a multidisciplinary research facility focused on the science and applications of chemical sensors and biosensors.
  • Precision –  is a Science Foundation Ireland-funded Strategic Research Cluster focussed on plasma technology for nano-manufacturing
  • Centre for Medical Engineering Research – The MEDeng centre develops new knowledge in biomaterials science, experimental, theoretical and computational mechanics and bio-manufacturiing processes. 
  • National Institute for Bioprocessing Research and Training (NIBRT) - NBRT is a global centre of excellence for training and research in bioprocessing.

  • Institute for International Conflict Resolution and Reconstruction (IICRR) brings together authoritative analysis of the Northern Ireland peace process with research and expertise on conflict and peacebuilding in a number of regions around the world, including West and Central Africa, Eastern Europe, and South and Central Asia
  • National Institute for Digital Learning - The National Institute for Digital Learning (NIDL) aims to be a world leader at the forefront of contemporary theory, research and practice in new transformative models of digital learning.
