In the School of Applied Language and Intercultural Studies we focus on research and teaching in a wide range of areas related to language and culture. We are concerned in a special way with the development of scholarship in translation studies, language studies, intercultural studies and the interface between language and technology.

We are committed to fostering the knowledge and critical skills required in order to better understand cultural difference, contrasts between languages, the processes of language learning and teaching and a variety of other issues relating to language and culture. We combine these research interests with a commitment to high-quality teaching, and provide both a forum for critical inquiry and an environment in which to learn about the applications of this research in the world outside academia.

Dublin City University Language Services (DCU.LS) a campus company specialised in the provision of language-based services is proud to sponsor a SALIS doctoral student conducting research in the field of interpreting. For further information on DCU.LS see http://www.dculs.dcu.ie/
