Office of Student Life
Arts Bursary - Eligibility
- The Bursaries will be available to all full-time DCU undergraduate students.
- Bursaries will not be awarded for assessed coursework. However, the Panel will consider projects that are a development from, or extension to, coursework which students undertake on their own initiative.
- Expeditions, sponsored events and charity fund-raising events are not eligible for bursaries.
- Applications will be made by the individual student and should demonstrate excellence in areas of creative endeavour or performing arts. Students must apply in writing, with a portfolio of work accompanying each application. Applicants in visual arts (painting, photography, sculpture, illustration, craft making, fashion), performing arts (dance, music, theatre, music technology), and media practice (video and film) are welcome.
- Applicants will be required to acknowledge the receipt of a bursary, to take every step to identify with DCU and be available for any reasonable publicity that the Awards Panel considers to be appropriate. Each recipient may be required to pro¬duce a press release for submission to the University’s Public Affairs Office.
- Successful applicants are required to provide the Panel with receipts and a written report before the release of any funding. Failure to provide this information may result in the recipient being required to reimburse their award to the University.
- The Panel’s decision is final. There is no right of appeal.
- The Bursary is renewable for each year of study, depending on continued high achievement in their creative or performing arts activity, contribution to the life of the University and satisfactory academic performance. Recipients will be reassessed each year by reviewing;
- Whether they have continued high performance in the area of creative endeavour at a standard, which demonstrates development.
- Whether they have passed and proceeded to the next complete stage of their course.
- Their contribution to the University.
