personal tutor system
The transition from school to University is a dramatic experience for most students. In order to assist students in this process and during their time with us, the University has organised a Personal Tutor system. The objective of this is to develop a close relationship between individual students and lecturers, so that academic staff will be a source of support, advice and guidance for the students during their period in the University.
On entry to the programme, each student is assigned to a Personal Tutor, who is available for consultation on academic and related matters. New students meet their Personal Tutors during the orientation period at the beginning of the academic year and at least once during each semester of first year.
The Personal Tutor integrates with other services provided by the University, and Personal Tutors will suggest that these be consulted where appropriate (e.g. Counselling Service, Health Service).
If for any reason you do not meet your personal tutor at orientation, or you are unaware of who he or she is, you can find the name and location of your Personal Tutor from the student portal on the DCU website.
