Background, SDTI and the Sustainability Initiative

The Science, Discovery and Technological Innovation theme is concerned with addressing technical needs, bringing together researchers from many disciplines, seeking investment and developing external partnerships.

One very important cross-disciplinary topic identified and promoted by the Office of the Theme Leaders together with others in the University is Sustainability. Promoting and fostering Sustainability was adopted as the SDTI Theme's first project, or initiative. The University's Sustainability Initiative is directed by the SDTI Theme Leader, Dr. Mike Hopkins.

The SDTI Theme employs two full-time staff and one part-time staff member. Funding for the SDTI Theme to date has come from an external philanthropic source.
