DCU Educational Trust

How You Can Help

Student Support

Dublin City University has identified Student Support as an urgent fundraising priority: to keep the doors to higher education open, reward the brightest minds for their pursuit of intellectual inquiry and to encourage and nurture a healthy academic research environment to the benefit of Irish society.

There are several ways in which you can become involved:

Annual Fund

The DCU Annual Fund is integral to the Educational Trust's overall efforts on behalf of the university. Gifts to the Annual Fund allow the Educational Trust to make discretionary grants throughout the year to such programmes as the Access Programme, the Alumni Student Mentoring Programme, Fizzfest – and international arts festival for children and the Science Bus. The goals of the Annual Fund are to encourage alumni participation and to increase annual unrestricted gifts.

In 2006 the Annual Fund raised €433,910 from more than 500 alumni, students, staff and friends of the university. Thank you to all our donors, not only for your contribution but also for helping to build a proud tradition of annual giving to DCU.

Thank you to all our donors, especially those who spoke to our students during the June and October Telethons, not only for your contribution but also for helping to build a proud tradition of annual giving to DCU.

Leadership Circle

The Leadership Circle is a distinct community of exceptional supporters and friends of Dublin City University. Membership recognises and acknowledges the contributions made by donors whose generosity and vision are helping to bring Dublin City University to the next level of its development as a world-class centre of research and learning.

Programmes and Services
To show our appreciation to Leadership Circle members, we offer services that acknowledge their gifts, keep them informed about research and programme achievements and provide them with opportunities to interact with the university community. Some of these opportunities include:

  • Invitations to the President’s seasonal reception in December
  • Invitations to events of interest to members such as speaker’s series, symposia, lectures and concerts by the National Chamber Choir.
  • A subscription to the DCU Times bi-annual magazine

We also offer on request:

  • Library borrowing facilities
  • Reduced rate membership to the University Sports Centre
  • Season’s pass to athletic events
  • Advance booking of tickets for the Helix
  • Legacy Gifts

More than ever before in Ireland 's history, most people can participate in a healthy economy to gain well-deserved personal success. Many who feel materially fortunate take pride and pleasure in making the world a better place through philanthropy. One wise and popular strategy includes Planned Giving – making a charitable gift in a way that fulfils your estate planning objectives after heirs have been provided for.

Working with donors to achieve their philanthropic aims, Dublin City University is both qualified and honoured to accept planned gifts to provide a lasting legacy for future generations of Irish scholars.

The Educational Trust graciously accepts planned gifts in the form of:

  • Bequests from Wills – testamentary instructions included in wills
  • Securities and share - listed securities traded on approved stock exchanges, bonds
  • Gifts-in-kind – collectible books, artwork or furniture
  • All contributions, whether modest or substantial, are most welcome. We particularly hope benefactors will consider helping DCU build permanent sources of funding for Access Scholarships, Sports Scholarships and Port-Graduate Research Fellowships by creating Named Endowment Funds for these purposes or by adding to those already established.

Should you choose to make it known to us that you have made provision for Dublin City University in your estate, we will be delighted to welcome you to the University's Leadership Circle to show our appreciation.

We recognise that Planned Giving involves deeply personal decisions. The Dublin City University Educational Trust is available to discuss with you and your legal or financial advisor, in strictest confidence, your vision and how the University might recognise and honour your generosity.
