It does this by providing students on each stream with a powerful combination of technological and business skills of relevance to electronic commerce applications. A strong collaborative ethos across the business and technical tracks is fostered through the extensive shared curriculum, interactive teaching modes and overall entrepreneurial orientation. As a result, the graduates of this programme are equipped with multi-faceted skills required to operate successfully in the exciting and dynamic industry of e-commerce.
MSc in Security & Forensic ComputingEU National Fee: €2000 * EU Status Fee: €10,125
This is a one year full-time Masters programme which teaches the principles underlying computer security and the practical investigation of computer crime. This course teaches a fundamental approach to computer security and forensic computing including legal, technical, information management and ethical issues, while also exploring effective methods which may be used to assist in the prevention of technologically related crime. DCU is the only university in the Republic of Ireland to offer an open taught M.Sc. programme in this expanding and crucial area.
MSc in Software EngineeringEU National Fee: €2000 * EU Status Fee: €10,125
This popular programme equips software engineering professionals with the cutting-edge skills to produce high quality software and systems that deliver value to business and the economy. Course participants will be exposed to the latest ideas and best practices in industry and will be fully equipped to advance their career in a fast-changing industry.
MEng in Electronic SystemsEU National Fee: €2000 * EU Status Fee: €9,219
The purpose of this flexible programme is to allow participants to customise a taught Masters programme based on preferred focus areas. With a range of over twenty modules to choose from, this Masters programme can be completed in numerous combinations. Specialisms are available in Nanoelectronics/Photonics, Image Processing & Analysis and Control Theory. The growth of applications in manufacturing, biomedicine, media, ICT and the life sciences is creating a strong demand for graduates in the Image Processing & Analysis field. The Major in Image Processing & Analysis prepares graduates to specialise in the areas such as computer & machine vision, biomedical imaging and image analysis and synthesis techniques. The aim of the Major is Nanoelectronics and Photonics is to deliver leaders in this emerging interdisciplinary sector with huge predicted growth. The Major in Nanoelectronics and Photonics focuses on the skills and knowledge required to produce functional electronic and photonic devices and constituent structures of nanometer dimensions.
MEng in Telecommunications EngineeringEU National Fee: €2000 * EU Status Fee: €9,219
This programme has been designed to provide students with the professional skills needed to advance a successful career in telecommunications. With a constant supply of new modules and the continuous updating of existing module material, the programme has evolved with industry, preparing telecommunications and networking professionals to be leaders in their environment. Graduates with the Network Implementation Major will be equipped with the skills and expertise required to implement tomorrow’s networking protocols on network devices and user equipment. Indicative topics covered are wireless networking, mesh networks, peer-to-peer networking, sensor networks, GMPLS and future technologies in these areas.
Masters Access Course for the MEng in Electronic Systems and Telecommunications EngineeringEU National Fee: €2000 * EU Status Fee: €4612
The Masters Access Course is for students who wish to join the MEng programmes in Electronic Systems and Telecommunications Engineering, but who do not have the normal Masters entry requirements, currently a H2.2 (or higher) honours degree in electronic or electrical engineering, other cognate engineering disciplines, including applied physics or computer science. The Masters Access Course allows students to attempt modules from the set of Masters modules. To gain entry to registration on one of the Masters programmes, a student on the Masters Access Course must have passed 30 credits, without availing of compensation between modules. Modules passed can be used for credit against a Masters, Graduate Diploma or Graduate Certificate award if transfer to the Masters register is successful. The Masters Access Course itself does not carry an award – its sole purpose is to offer an applicant an opportunity to gain access to the possibility of a Masters award where they have not previously met the normal entry requirements.
MSc in Computer Aided Mechanical & Manufacturing EngineeringEU National Fee: €2000 * EU Status Fee: €9,219
The aim of the MSc in Computer Aided Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering programme is to widen the knowledge and skills of graduates (with >55% in their primary degree) in the application of Computer Aided Engineering to design, development, analysis and management of product design or manufacturing systems. Topics covered include project management, research methodology, advanced finite element and computation fluid dynamics, modelling and simulation of manufacturing system, operations research, etc. The programme is completed with an individual research project. It is a programme which responds to the needs of multi-national and local employers both in Ireland and abroad, and to the needs of technologists who wish to develop professionally, and keep pace with a rapidly changing product design, development and manufacturing sector.
Graduate Diploma in Mechanical & Manufacturing EngineeringEU National Fee: €2000 * EU Status Fee: €9,219
The aim of the Graduate Diploma (GD) in Computer Aided Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering programme is to widen the knowledge and skills of graduates in the application of Computer Aided Engineering to design, development, analysis and management of product design or manufacturing systems. Topics covered include project management, research methodology, advanced finite element and computation fluid dynamics, modelling and simulation of manufacturing system, operations research, etc.
The GD provides an entry to the programme for those students who do not have the entry qualification (i.e. those with <55% in their primary degree) to enter the Masters programme directly. Students will follow the same programme as the Masters students without the research project. Subject to their results, GD students may transfer to the Masters programme at a later stage.
