Under this Programme the BEST Centre team at DCU are to recieved £9m to establish The National Centre for Sensors Research (NCSR).  This funding will allow the construction of dedicated research building on campus with state-of-the-art equipment and recruitment of key additional personnel.  Also, most importantly it will allow for a doubling of the size of the research team.

The mission statement of the NCSR is to establish a world-class centre of excellence in sensor research at DCU, performing cutting-edge interdisciplinary research into problems of societal concern.  In parallel, it will seek to enrich the third level educational environment and in particular, to enhance the quality of its graduate output.
