Visiting professor Ambassador Shaharyar M. Khan, former foreign secretary of Pakistan

As part of an ongoing project on conflict resolution in South Asia, Dublin City University Centre for International Studies and School of Law and Government are hosting Ambassador Shaharyar M. Khan, former foreign secretary of Pakistan and former UN Secretary General’s Special Representative to Rwanda during the week of 16 March. During his visit he will give a number of seminars in DCU to our BA and MA students and staff

Ambassador Khan is an accomplished former Pakistani diplomat. After serving as Pakistan’s ambassador to India, the United Kingdom, China, the US and France, he became Pakistan's Foreign Secretary, holding the post for four years between 1990 and 1994. He was then appointed the UN Secretary General’s Special Representative to Rwanda where he remained for two years overseeing the United Nations activities in the country. In his retirement, Shaharyar Khan has written a number of books on history and contemporary affairs, including an account of the events in Rwanda. He lecturers on politics and diplomacy in the prestigious Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) and among many public commitments is currently chairperson of Pakistan's Cricket Board
