CIS & School of Law and Goivernment in DCU have won a number of awards from the Irish Research Council for Humanities and Social Sciences for the forthcoming academic year. An IRCHSS project grants was awarded to Prof. Robert Elgie for a project “Beyond Chairman or Chief? Mapping the parliamentary interventions of the head of government in Ireland, 1923-2002”. Dr. Alexander Baturo, got a project grant for the compilation of a index on the value of political office which will allow an analysis of what political rulers stand to lose if they exit from office and to explain the impact of their behaviour on stability and breakdown of democracy and dictatorship, succession, and conflict initiation and resolution.
In other schemes Dr Iain Mcmenamin , has been awarded an IRCHSS research fellowship, to work on a comparative project on Business, Money and Political Parties
Dr Karen Devine secured a Post Doctoral Fellowship for work on European Security and Irish Neutrality
Aoileann Ni Mhuruchu – achieved a Government of Ireland PhD scholarship for research on competing concepts of citizenship used in the 2004 citizenship referendum in Ireland
