AIMS & OBJECTIVES

The Intercultural Workplace Project will investigate the benefits and challenges posed by the increasingly intercultural working environment in today's Ireland. It will focus on the experience of three groupings:

Through examining the interaction of these three groupings it will seek to identify key opportunities and problem areas, and the skills, training and support structures required in order to ensure an effective and high quality intercultural work environment that meets the needs of all involved.

Drawing on both national and international experience and research in the area, this project seeks to outline Ireland's current position in the global context, suggest future goals and identify models of best practice in order to achieve them.

Ultimately, the project aims at producing a document of findings which can direct future conscious development. Such document would also suggest crucial pointers as to how to deal with intercultural instances - both positive and negative - and hence pre-empt unnecessary conflict in the work environment.
