BENEFITS
Benefits of the Intercultural Workplace Project

Conducting the research proposed within the confines of the Intercultural Workplace Project will carry with it many benefits on a personal, academic and educational level.

On a personal level, the Intercultural Workplace Project with enhance the research profile of the various team members. The project will provide the perfect opportunity for all involved to use their practical experience in intercultural issues in an academic framework. The already existing network of international partners, through Erasmus, Socrates and other exchange programmes, will also prove crucial to the success of this project.

This research project will also feed into a new series of lectures on Intercultural Business Communication, Intercultural Management, Intercultural Relations etc. which are offered on various degree programmes both at under- and postgraduate levels in DCU. By developing these lecture programmes in interculturalism, SALIS is establishing DCU as a leader in this field, one of the first third-level institutions in Ireland to respond to the changing needs of students in a growing intercultural Ireland. The lectures will provide a hands-on approach to dealing with intercultural issues both in the workplace and in a social setting.

The research will enhance the research profile of Dublin City University, by providing a document which will be of use to both academic and non-academic institutions.

Through the SALIS staff involved in the project, DCU will be in a position to offer training programmes to companies on how best to deal with an intercultural workforce and the possible intercultural conflicts which may arise in the process.

Completion of the Intercultural Workplace Project will be followed by a major internatinoal conference at DCU on this topic, drawing on the network of international and national experts involved in the research.
