  Evaluating websites

The Internet is a vast resource.  It bring together information from all over the world and makes it easy to search and find answers instantly.  That's great.  But you have to make sure that the information you find is of good quality.

Why you need to evaluate
Books and journals and other traditional sources of information are quality checked before you get to read them.  You can see clearly who is responsible for the content - the author's name will be on the book or article.  On the Internet much of information is anonymous.  Traditional publishers will have quality checked information and they will have proof read it for errors.

This doesn't have to happen on the Internet where quite literally anyone can publish anything.  It's easy to do and costs little or nothing.

So in this section we're going to look at the tools for evaluating information you find on the web.  Keep using the Internet to find information! But use it wisely.
