These electronic resources subscribed to by DCU Library may be used within the DCU network, or off-campus, by DCU registered staff and students only. They can also be used by bona fide walk-in users within the library.
Use of these resources is for the purpose of non-commercial DCU-related teaching, learning, research and administration work only. It is not permitted to facilitate database access to any other person(s) for any other purpose. Such use will breach licence terms and may leave the parties concerned, and/or users as defined above who facilitate such third party use, open to legal sanction. Systematic downloading or retention of information from databases using robots, spiders or manual means is not permitted. American Chemical Society (ACS)   
Full-text access to all 53 peer-reviewed titles from the American Chemical Society. Includes archive access to all titles, some as far back as 1879 (Journal of the American Chemical Society).
Coverage: From 1st issue of 1st volume for each title except 'Chemical and Engineering News': 1998 onwards only.

American Institute of Physics (AIP)  
Full text access to 13 AIP journals focusing  on interdisciplinary and applied topics in physics, astronomy and related fields of science and technology.

AMA Journals are among the most widely circulated family of peer-reviewed medical journals in the world. American Physical Society (APS)  
APS strives to 'advance and diffuse the knowledge of physics'. Provides full text access to the 8 APS journals with archival access to all APS titles as far back as 1893 through PROLA (Physical Reviews Online Archive).

Analytical Abstracts

Annual Reviews  
Authoritative, analytic reviews in 34 disciplines within the Biomedical, Physical, and Social Sciences. Dissertation Abstracts  
Dissertations Abstracts is the largest single source of information about doctoral dissertations and master’s theses available.  It contains over 2 million entries, ranging from the first U.S. dissertation accepted in 1861 to those just accepted.

Econlit with Full Text  
EconLit with Full Text contains all of the abstracts and indexing available in EconLit, plus full text for more than 500 journals, including the American Economic Association journals.

EcoWin   
Economic and financial data for over 100 countries and for aggregates such as Eurozone, Africa, Americas and World. Data is collected from more than 800 primary sources, including national statistical offices, central banks, financial exchanges and private institutes. Updated daily.

Accessing Ecowin:

  • Staff/researchers: install EcoWin software on your computer on or off campus. Contact your Subject Librarian for installation instructions.

Education-Line
Education-line is a freely accessible database of the full text of conference papers, working papers and electronic literature which supports educational research, policy and practice.

Education Research Co    mplete
Education Research Complete is a bibliographic and full text database covering scholarly research and information relating to all areas of education. Topics covered include all levels of education from early childhood to higher education, and all educational specialties, such as multilingual education, health education, and testing. Education Research Complete also covers areas of curriculum instruction as well as administration, policy, funding, and related social issues. The database provides indexing and abstracts for more than 1,500 journals, as well as full- text for more than 750 journals. This database also includes full text for more than 80 books and full text for numerous education-related conference papers.

EMBASE (Excerpta Medica), is the most comprehensive database in biomedicine and pharmacology and gives you access to the most up-to-date information about medical and drug-related subjects with over 11 million records. The EMBASE journal collection is international with over 4,500 biomedical journals from 70 countries. Allows simultaneous searching of the Medline database.

Access to full text of Emerald's 216 management and marketing journals. Additional reviews of articles in the top 300 management journals from other publishers.

Environment and Planning  
Environment and Planning is a collection of four urban and regional planning journals. They focus on everything from the environment and nature through planning and policy to theory and design.

ERIC International  
ERIC International consists of three abstract databases which can be searched together or separately:

  • The Australian Education Index is Australia's largest source of education information. Its sources include reports, books, journal articles, online resources, conference papers, book chapters and theses. Coverage: 1977 to date.
  • The British Education Index provides information on research, policy and practice in education and training in the UK. Its sources include over 300 education and training journals, mostly published in the UK, plus an array of other material including books, reports, series and conference papers. Coverage: 1975 to date.
  • ERIC (the US Educational Resources Information Center) is the world's largest education database, indexing over 650 journals, as well as grey literature. Publication types include journal articles, books, research syntheses, conference papers, technical reports and policy papers. Coverage: 1966 to date.

ESRI reports
Full-text of the Economic and Social Research Institute publications.  Search or browse and download PDF documents.  Covers a wide range of topics including education, health, gender issues, housing, industrial development, and social disadvantage.

Essential Science Indicators  
This unique and comprehensive compilation of science performance statistics and science trends data is based on journal article publication counts and citation data from Thomson Scientific databases. It is an ideal analytical resource for policymakers, administrators, analysts and information specialists in government agencies, universities, corporations, private laboratories, publishing companies and foundations, as well as members of the scientific press and recruiters.

Full text access to selected Irish business and social sciences publications. Search and Advanced Search facilities available. Archive backfile varies according to publication. Link through to parent Business World news and company information site.

FAME
Company accounts, ratios, activities, ownership and management for the largest 2.6 million UK and Irish companies, summary information for a further 1 million smaller businesses.

Film Indexes Online    
Film Indexes Online is three film databases which can be searched together or separately.

  • American Film Index Catalogue (AFI) is the premier, authoritative resource of American film information, covers the history of American cinema comprehensively from 1893 to 1974, with records for selected major films from 1975-2008.
  • Film Index International (FII). Produced in collaboration with the British Film Institute and based on the Summary of Film and Television (SIFT) database collated by the BFI over the past 70 years, FiIm Index International provides in-depth indexing of over 120,000 films and biographical information for more than 737,000 personalities.
  • FIAF Index to Film Periodicals Plus is a bibliographical index of the world's foremost academic and popular film journals from 1972 to the present day. It also included full-text access to 47 journals.

Geoscience World   
Provides full text access to  peer-reviewed articles from high impact geoscience publications. GeoScienceWorld is the result of a collaboration by six leading earth science societies and one institute to develop cooperatively an electronic research resource for earth sciences.It is interoperable with GeoRef, the bibliographic search database published by the American Geological Institute which includes information on over 3500 publications.

Represents 30% of electrical engineering and computer science literature. Journal Citation Reports   
JCR offers a systematic, objective means to critically evaluate the world's leading journals, with quantifiable, statistical information based on citation data. Created by the National Library of Medicine, MEDLINE uses MeSH (Medical Subject Headings) indexing with tree, tree hierarchy, subheadings and explosion capabilities to search citations from over 4,800 current biomedical journals.

MLA International Bibliography  
Provides a classified listing and subject index for books and articles published on modern languages, literatures, folklore, and linguistics. It comprises a collection of 1.6 million citations drawn from 4,400 journals and other key global sources. Runs from 1963 to the present.

Nature Publishing Group  
Includes access to Nature magazine and 34 other titles from Nature Publishing Group.

NBER Working Papers
Full texts of working papers produced by researchers at the National Bureau of Economic Research. Over 700 papers are added to this database every year

OECD iLibrary

Scopus
Scopus is one of the largest multi-disciplinary abstracting and indexing databases of research literature and quality web sources. It offers access to over 16,000 titles from more than 4000 international publishers, with abstracts available back to 1966. Citation data is available from 1996. Coverage includes scientific, technical, medical and social sciences literature including, arts and humanities. There are also 23 million patent records from 5 patent offices as well as links to ‘Articles in Press’ from over 3,000 journals.
