Newspapers

A journal is a scholarly publication issued in parts, with a scholarly audience. It differs from a magazine which is a continuing publication, informal in tone, and intended for a general audience, not scholarly in nature. A journal's intent is to add to the body of knowledge on a given subject.

Developing Your Search Strategy | Quick Demo

A database is an organised collection of information stored in electronic format that can be fully searched. Library databases index hundreds of journals and will either provide the full article (full-text) or a summary (abstract) of the article. Like the Library catalogue, our databases can be searched by author, title or keyword. They also offer lots of other search options. The Library subscribes to over 130 databases supporting all programmes across the university.
