ABOUT - THIS WEBSITE

Audience
This site is designed to provide students of Digital Video (DV) production with an online resource to assist them in their understanding of the means of production.

Broadband
The content is best viewed on a broadband internet or high-speed intranet connection. Depending on your network speed, you may need to allow extra time for some pages and files (movies) to download.

Browsers
Most browsers - Safari (MacOS), Netscape, Firefox (which seems to be replacing Netscape) and Internet Explorer seem to work well. However, Internet Explorer seems to render some Flash elements (menus) last, when downloading video files. You will need both QuickTime and Flash plug-ins installed on your computer, and recent versions of Flash may require you to give it permission to access web content via the Global Security Settings panel (regardless of which platform, OS or web browser you use).

Concept
Apart from providing informative content and examples of students' work, I wanted the site to be visually attractive and easy to use. It utilises basic web technologies, such as CSS, multiple rollovers, Flash Text and QuickTime, but leverages these, I hope, to good effect.

The six categories (see Content & Navigation - left column) take the student through the various stages of production from early conceptualisation to post-production considerations. These are intended as an introduction to the subject only, as a compliment to production exercises and not a replacement for lectures or other learning materials.

I hope to add extra resources and to showcase more student work over time.
