Digital Media Awards - Call for Entries from
Sept. to 27th Nov. 2006
There are 25 categories to choose from including 'Creativity', which includes
Design (Website or Mobile Content), Animation, Film (Production and Post-Production),
Best Digital Image as well as an 'eLearning' category. Finalists will
be announced on Friday 15th December 2006 and the Awards Ceremony will
take place on 1st February 2007.

Projected Weekends - Nov. 6th 2006 to Mar.
7th 2007
The Digital Hub have issued an 'open ended call' for
media submissions, which will be projected from their premises outdoors
onto the street. All work from any subject and discipline will be considered
but as the projections are being played in a residential area, audio will
not be played on the street. The selected submission will be played over
an entire weekend and each weekend a new submission will be chosen. Contact

Orange/BAFTA 60 second Film Competition
- Call for Entries.
Closing date: Jan. 4th 2007.
To
celebrate 10 years of cooperation between Orange and the Academy, Orange
is calling for entries based on the theme of 'Celebrate'. Irish entries
should note that their films must be shot within the U.K. Content be must
suitable for family viewing.

Cherbourg-Octeville Student Short Film Competition
(Irish and British students).
Closing date: Jan. 17th 2007
The
22nd Festval des cinémas, is looking for submissions from Irish
students in the area of fiction or animation. Full details and a competition
entry form are available from the website. The
festival takes place on Saturday 17th March 2007 in Cherbourg-Octeville.
The official language is English and the works are limited to 15mins.

Glaway Film Centre Short Script Awards
- Call for Entries.
Closing date: Friday 23rd February 2007.
Scripts
must display "a strong cimematic vision and a fresh perspective".
Duraton is between 10-15mins. This marks the eleventh year of the competition
and a prize fund of 28,500 Euro has been allocated to cover three awards.

Darklight Festival: 21st - 23rd
June 2007.
The
annual Darklight Festival Symposium will be held on the 21st - the 23rd
of June 2007. Issues covered: Digital Distribution; Expanded Cinema; Blurring
the lines between visual art practice and cinema; Education; Evolution
of short film as an art form in response to the curent appetite and trends
of online exhibition.. and much more.
The following is from their e-mail:"
We are planning a round table format for the
discussions where 5 forums will be held in FilmBase, Temple Bar. After
each forum the audience will be given an opportunity to get a more intimate
insight into the professional practice or research area of our guests
with break-out sessions following the discussions. These sessions will
consist of artist talks plus screenings, master classes, lectures or workshops."
