Digital Video Production Title
'Clicking' on the title at the top of any page will link to this page.

Digital Video Section
Symbolised by the DV camcorder icon at the top left corner of every page, this section is the 'Home' page for the site. It has two sub-sections: News, which reports on DV related developments, and Views, which can cover product reviews, advice, opinions or profiles, amongst other items.

Main Menu: Six Sections
The site is divided into six main sections or categories: Concepts, Technology, Publications, Examples, Glossary and Links. These six sections are never more than one ‘click’ away from any page.

Concepts: this section explores some of the basic ideas and principles of video production, from preparation to editing.

Technology: examines some of the hardware and software involved in digital video production e.g. digital camera operation or editing software applications.

Publications: recommends books and periodicals suitable for giving both a theoretical and practical understanding of the subject.

Examples: showcases some work from three different categories i.e. Student, Non-Commercial and Commercial. If you don't already have QuickTime installed on your machine, you will need to download it from the Apple web site in order to view these videos (see link in the left column).

Glossary: a handy reference for all those unusual terms that crop up as ‘jargon’ but which you really need to understand in order to progress your knowledge.

Links: provides some useful resources for further expanding your repertoire of DV related material or for seeking help in difficult situations.

Sub-Menu
Depending on the topic, each of the six sections is in turn divided into relevant sub-sections. These sub-sections are located in a grey bar sub-menu under the main menu.

The grey bar lists the relevant section to the left e.g. Concepts and the sub-categories to the right hand side e.g. Pre-Production, Production and Post-Production. These sub-menus are no more than one 'click' away within each section or two 'clicks' from a main menu.

Left Column menu
Some topics require further sub-division, though not all. Where this is the case a short list of relevant items will appear in a column on the left side of the web page. Some of these items display visual material in the 'Section Logo'. These menus will remain on the page as long as they are relevant to the subject matter.

Section Logo
To assist viewer navigation, at the top left-hand side of every page is a small square or 'Section Logo' . Each 'logo' displays a bracketed letter for each representative section e.g. 'C' for Concepts, 'T' for Technology and so on. Thus users will always know what section they are visiting.
It also acts as a 'viewer' for additional information depending on the section visited e.g. it can display extra textual information or graphics or even QuickTime movies.

'Clicking' on the Section Logo returns you to the very start of that particular section e.g. if you are in the News section, clicking on the Logo will return you to the DV (home page) section. If anywhere in the Concepts section, clicking on the [ C ] will return you to the start of that section, likewise [ T ] for Technology etc.

Previous, Next Arrows
Every page has a ‘Previous’ and ‘Next’ arrow, which when ‘clicked’ changes the present page to the previous or next one in sequence.

Note you can still use your browser’s own previous and next arrows, which may be different from the web page's own 'Previous' and 'Next' navigation arrows.
