| ABOUT
STUDENT VIDEOS
This section displays some representative video material
produced by students undertaking digital video modules as part of either
Multimedia or Communications programmes at Dublin City University. The
videos vary in topic and duration and are indicative of learning competencies
being acquired at specific stages during the modules.
Digital Video Production
Consists of full production/editing projects on agreed topics. Students,
generally working in groups, had access to a full production kit based
around the JVC DV500 camcorder. Editing was undertaken on Apple Macintosh
computer systems utilising Final Cut Pro.
Editing Exercise
Introductory exercises involved editing royalty free footage, although
some individuals shot their own original footage. Editing took place on
Apple Macintosh computers with Adobe Premiere. Even though most students
had access to the same footage, each interpreted it differently.
Motion Graphics
An advanced group exercise which involved originating footage and applying
motion graphics within Adobe After Effects. I hope to add further work
to this section in due course.
Theses Productions
This section shows examples of video theses projects undertaken as part
requirement for the awarding of the B.A. in Communications Studies as
well as the undergraduate and postgraduate B.Sc. and M.Sc. Multimedia
degreee programmes..
B.Sc. Multimedia
and M.Sc. Multimedia and Staff
Unlike the digital video examples (main above) which are completed as
part of specific digital video modules, theses projects also involve other
lecturing staff in the developmental and assessment process, which I gratefully
acknowledge. They are in alphabetical order, Pat
Brereton Ph.D, Miriam
Judge Ph.D., Tom
Lawrence Ph.D., and Declan
Tuite MSc.
B.A. in Communications Studies

A selection of markers may also be drawn from the Communications

projects.
