TECHNOLGOY - INTRODUCTION
This section highlights some of the main technological
aspects of digital video production such as hardware and software i.e.
from the DV camera, tripod, audio equipment, to software items such as
that for non-linear editing or compositing.
Hardware
There are two types of information available here.
The first is a visual interactive guide to the JVC Camcorder and the second
is a series of twenty short videos which illustrate basic camcorder functionality.
Most of the important functions
are covered with the exception of the viewer menu system (covered in great
detail in the JVC manual). Most professional digital camcorders function
in a similar manner to each other, so if you become familiar with this
JVC model, you should quickly understand the funcionality of any other,
including TV broadcast cameras and camcorders.
Software
Once you have shot your DV footage the next stage
is to edit it within a non-linear software environment such as Final Cut
Pro (FCP) or Final Cut Express (FCX). This section also provides an interactive
visual overview of FCP and by default its sister application FCX, as both
share most of the same interface elements.
