Adult Education – Erasmus+ Accreditation

DCU Age-Friendly University (AFU) is proud to be one of 24 organisations in Ireland recently awarded Erasmus+ Adult Accreditation—and notably, the first university in the country to achieve this recognition.

This prestigious accreditation represents a strong validation of DCU’s ongoing commitment to lifelong learning and inclusive education. It also reinforces the university’s leadership in promoting age-friendly principles in higher education, supporting learners of all ages to access meaningful learning opportunities.

The Erasmus+ Programme offers institutions and organisations in the field of adult education the opportunity to engage in international learning, teaching, and cooperation. Through this programme, learners and staff can take part in mobility and partnership projects across Europe, fostering professional growth and the exchange of best practices.

Opportunities within the Programme

KA1 – Mobility Projects

KA1 projects enable adult education organisations to:

  • Send learners and staff on short- or long-term learning or training experiences in EU Member States or other associated countries.
  • Host participants from partner organisations for training or teaching activities.

The goal of KA1 mobility is to improve the quality of teaching and learning, strengthen the European dimension of adult education, and contribute to the European Education Area—values that DCU champions through its Age-Friendly University initiative.
