To mark the UN International Day of Older People 2025, DCU Age-Friendly University hosted an online webinar that brought together voices from academia, advocacy, and community organisations to reflect on what it means to age with dignity.
The event featured a rich panel of speakers:
- Prof. Amanda Phelan (DCU)
- Helen Fitzgerald (SAGE Advocacy)
- Anne Duffy (AFU Participant and ISCP Board Member)
- Lucie Cunningham (THEHomeshare)
- Dorcas Collier (COO, HaloCare)
- Alison Bough (Active Retirement Ireland & AGE Platform)
- Alison McCarthy (Alzheimer's Society)
- Patricia Duffy & Maeve Wiston (Mary Immaculate College)
- Dr. Tara Byrne (Age & Opportunity)
Together, they shared insights on inclusion, rights, advocacy, and innovative practices that support older people in living full and meaningful lives.
The discussion highlighted the importance of ensuring that dignity, respect, and participation remain central to ageing policies and practices in Ireland and beyond.
A sincere thank you to all our speakers, participants, and attendees who joined us in marking this important international day.
