MEMORABLE Project Brings Dementia-Inclusive Cultural Research to Taste of DCU 2026
Dublin City University Age-Friendly University will present research from the Erasmus+ MEMORABLE project at the annual Taste of DCU event on 31 August 2026.
Dr Waqar Ahmed from DCU Age-Friendly University will present the project’s research to Age-Friendly University participants, sharing findings on dementia-inclusive cultural participation and the wider work taking place across the European partnership.
Supporting Dementia-Inclusive Cultural Participation
The MEMORABLE project aims to support meaningful community engagement and create more supportive environments within cultural institutions. It seeks to improve opportunities for people living with dementia and their loved ones to participate in arts and cultural activities and experience greater inclusion and connection.
Research undertaken by DCU Age-Friendly University has examined dementia-friendly cultural participation in Ireland, including existing practices, barriers to participation and the experiences of people living with dementia, carers and cultural professionals.
MEMORABLE brings together partners across five European countries. The consortium is currently developing an e-learning platform and training resources for cultural professionals, informed by national research and insights from lived and professional experience.
The presentation at Taste of DCU 2026 will provide an opportunity to share this work directly with Age-Friendly University participants and discuss how cultural spaces can become more accessible and supportive for people living with dementia.
