Everyday Objects, Enduring Legacies
We are delighted to invite you to a series of three workshops delivered by Mr Wilfred Ludwig, who is visiting from the University of Alicante. Drawing on the themes emerging from his papers βFossils of the 20th Centuryβ and the accompanying environmental reflection on the lifecycle and legacy of plastic bags, this series of three workshops offers a timely and thought-provoking learning journey that bridges culture, sustainability, and everyday material life.
Together, the texts invite us to reconsider one of the most ordinary objects of modern existence, the plastic bag; not simply as waste, but as a powerful marker of social change, creativity, consumption, and future memory. Ludwig positions plastic as both a symbol of ingenuity and a challenge to planetary wellbeing, raising a compelling question: what traces of our lives will remain for future generations?
This workshop series transforms that question into an interactive exploration. The workshops will take place in Room HG09 in the Nursing Building on DCU Glasnevin Campus, 11:00 am - 1:00 pm.
