New Dean’s Research Fellows at DCU Anti-Bullying Centre
Prof Anne Looney, Dean of the DCU Institute of Education, has announced the appointment of two new Dean’s Research Fellows for the current academic year.
We warmly congratulate Dr Amalee Meehan (School of Human Development) and Dr Christina O’Keeffe (School of Inclusive & Special Education) on their fellowships and look forward to the important contributions their work will make to the field of anti-bullying research and education.
Dr Amalee Meehan will lead a programme of research exploring the role of Religious Education in second level curricula across Europe, with a particular focus on how it intersects with religious-based bullying and student wellbeing in schools. Her work will provide valuable insights into how faith, identity, and inclusion can be addressed in educational contexts to foster respectful and safe learning environments.
Dr Christina O’Keeffe will be undertaking research to develop evidence-based anti-bullying curricular resources for students with additional needs. Her project will adopt a co-design approach, working closely with students, educators, parents, and policymakers to ensure that the resulting resources are practical, inclusive, and impactful.
These prestigious fellowships highlight the Centre’s ongoing commitment to innovative, collaborative, and impactful research that addresses the complex realities of bullying in schools and wider society.
We wish Dr Meehan and Dr O’Keeffe every success in their research and look forward to sharing the outcomes of their important work in the months ahead.
