The Contemporary Accounting and Governance special interest group examines the changing role of accounting and governance practices in organisations. This research group seeks to help shape future professionals and organisations by linking identity formation and education endeavours with practice challenges in both for-profit and non-profit organisations, and by analysing reporting, technological and regulatory challenges in accounting and governance.
For-profit and non-profit organisations face growing demands for enhanced transparency, accountability and governance. In turn, accountants and governance experts must navigate rapid technological change, growing sustainability reporting requirements, and broader regulatory reforms. Educators, accountants and governance experts must adapt to ensure that future accounting professionals and those charged with governance remain trusted, competent, and relevant in an increasingly complex global environment.
