Biographical Details

Dr. Darina Scully is the Prometric Post-doctoral Researcher at the Centre for Assessment Research, Policy and Practice in Education. She holds a B.A. (Mod.) and a Ph.D. in psychology from Trinity College, Dublin. At CARPE, Darina is involved in several research projects focused on various issues in assessment and test development in educational and workplace settings.  She also contributes to teaching and supervision at both undergraduate and postgraduate level in the Institute of Education.  Prior to joining the IoE, Darina worked in the Educational Research Centre (Drumcondra), where she was involved in a number of national and international research projects, including TIMSS (Trends in International Maths and Science Study), the evaluation of the School Support Programme under DEIS (Delivering Equality of Opportunity in Schools), and the development and standardization of a series of computer-based assessments, including the Drumcondra Reasoning Test (DRT), the Drumcondra Post-Primary Reading Test (DPPRT) and the Drumcondra Post-Primary Mathematics Test (DPPMT). Darina has been published in peer-reviewed journals including Practical Assessment, Research and Evaluation and the Irish Journal of Education, and has presented at various national and international conferences.
