CFB Scholar Vanessa Diaz earns PhD

CFB member, Vanessa Diaz has earned her doctorate following the successful defence of her PhD thesis this week. Dr Diaz defended her thesis entitled “Long-Term Orientation in Multi-Generational Family Firms: A Multiple Case Study Analysis”.

Her thesis examined how long-term orientation (LTO) manifests in family firms, how LTO influences the entrepreneurial orientation of family firms, and how non-economic goals are associated with LTO.

 Dr. Diaz later commented:

“I am thrilled to have successfully completed my PhD regarding Long-Term Orientation in Multi-Generational Family Firms. It has been a very challenging but highly rewarding experience! Being involved in the Centre for Family Business has provided me with a platform to present my research at national and international conferences and allowed the translation of my research for practical usage. I look forward to continuing my research of Entrepreneurship in Family Firms.”

Dr. Diaz’ supervisors are Dr. Eric Clinton, CFB director, and Dr. Teresa Hogan, senior lecturer in economics and finance. Dr Brian Harney of DCU Business School was the internal examiner, Professor Charles Clay Dibrell of The University of Mississippi acted as external examiner and the chairperson was Professor Maura McAdam of DCU Business School.
