DCU supports It Stops Now campaign

Yesterday, DCU’s Students` Union unveiled a mural calling for an end to sexual violence and harassment in third level institutions.

The mural is part of It Stops Now, a campaign led by the National Women’s Council of Ireland. It is run as an integral part of the ESHTE (Ending Sexual Harassment and Violence in Third-Level Education) project.

The aim is to prevent and combat sexual harassment and violence and to build a culture of zero tolerance in third level institutions throughout Europe. It hopes to do this by building a feminist understanding and analysis of the causes and effects of sexual harassment and violence.

It was installed in a prominent position near the main entrance of the Henry Grattan building. The installation was organised by DCU's SU Welfare & Equality Officer Aisling Fagan and supported by DCU President, Professor Brian MacCraith; USI (The Union of Student`s in Ireland), NWCI (National Women`s Council of Ireland), SU sabbaticals and DCU students.
