Why did you choose this particular course?
I chose this course because I had an interest in learning how media and communication shape the world around us. The course has a great mix of practical and creative work, and I felt DCU was the right place to build my skills for my future hopes.
What aspects of this programme were most useful or valuable to you?
The practical modules in video, photo, and audio editing gave me valuable skills that I still use regularly. Over the three years, my confidence in communication grew significantly, preparing me to perform well in job interviews and presentations and manage my nerves through these better.
What were your highlights of the programme?
My highlight of the programme was getting to combine my personal creative elements with the practical coursework I learned. I loved creating a photography portfolio, photographing three Irish dancers in a form that told a story through pictures. Creating a short documentary with my closest friends, who I met through the course, was also an incredible experience.
Did the programme create opportunities for you?
This course gave me the confidence to finally follow through on one of my goals with starting a podcast. The course not only helped build my skills necessary to run a podcast such as video and audio editing, but also helped my confidence grow greatly. I am proud of where my podcast is today and the opportunities that have come my way because of it.
