Outstanding Students Honoured with 2025/2026 School Awards

The School of Computing is proud to celebrate the exceptional achievements of this year’s undergraduate award recipients, recognising academic excellence, innovation, and research impact across the 2025/2026 academic cycle.

The Rory O’Connor Award, named in honour of former Head of School and academic Professor Rory O’Connor, was presented to Sháhín De Faoite for achieving the highest overall mark in final year. Sháhín has demonstrated remarkable commitment and talent throughout the BSc in Computer Science, consistently producing work of outstanding calibre.

The Tony Moynihan Award, commemorating the former Head of School, Professor Tony Moynihan, was awarded to Jack Egan and Lukas Sarkauskas for their impressive project on AI‑enabled medical technologies. With an exceptionally strong cohort of final‑year projects, their accomplishments stand out as a testament to their creativity, technical skill, and ambition.

Students in the final‑year Software Engineering module also undertake research on emerging technologies, with a prize awarded for the best overall research paper. The 2026 award was presented to Marjia Siddik, Samson Oloruntola, Aman Ahmmed, and Mahmoud Yousif for their work on Contemporary Automated Refactoring Adoption. Their research has already earned international recognition, with the associated paper accepted for presentation at a leading global conference in September 2026.

The School warmly congratulates all awardees and looks forward to seeing the continued impact of their work as they embark on the next stage of their careers.
