The deadline for sending abstracts is the end of June 2026, with full manuscripts due by June 2027.

Some of the themes which may be addressed include:

• Peace agreements and the management of statehood claims
• Recognition, non-recognition, derecognition, and conditional recognition
• Status ambiguity, status neutrality, and interim arrangements
• Recognition as leverage in peace negotiations
• Recognition from above, below, and across borders
• Self-determination, sovereignty, and territorial integrity
• Recognition and asymmetrical negotiations
• Historical perspectives on recognition and peace
• Recognition and geopolitical contestation
• Comparative approaches to protracted statehood conflicts

A panel on the subject may also hear presentations about the topic at the annual convention of the International Studies Association in the USA in April 2027.

Two of the three guest editors, Dr Gëzim Visoka and Dr Liridona Veliu Ashiku, are members of the DCU Conflict Institute.
