DCU Core Technologies is a single open-access platform that unites six multidisciplinary core facilities across the Nano Research Facility (NRF), the Life Sciences Research Facility (LSRF), and the Biological Resource Unit (BRU). Our equipment is independent of individual research projects, ensuring access for researchers from every school and faculty within DCU, as well as external partners from academia and industry.

At the heart of our work is an experienced technical team, dedicated to providing high-quality training and maintaining all resources to the highest operational standards. This commitment ensures that every researcher who relies on us has a solid foundation of expertise and reliable equipment, allowing them to carry out their projects with confidence.

We began in 2017 as the Nano Research Facility (NRF), focused on advanced nanoscale research. From the outset, we built strong foundations in specialist training, streamlined access to equipment, financial sustainability, and quality outputs. In 2023, we expanded to include the Life Sciences Research Facility (LSRF) and the Biological Resource Unit (BRU). Together, these three units now form DCU Core Technologies, extending our reach and impact.
