Possibility School Workshops

Creative craft materials in children's hands

Possibility School Workshops

The Possibility School Workshops are a creative education initiative developed by DCU Centre for Possibilities Studies and Maynooth University, in collaboration with St Joseph's National School in Bonnybrook, Dublin. Running monthly throughout the school year, the workshops bring 5th class students (ages 10–11) into hands-on creative sessions designed around open-ended learning rather than fixed outcomes. Through making tangible objects with diverse materials, children develop dispositions — curiosity, resilience, and imaginative agency — that prepare them for an uncertain world. The project demonstrates that education oriented toward possibility, rather than predictability, doesn't require special resources; it simply requires a willingness to embrace uncertainty as a generative force in learning.

Project leads: Prof. Vlad Glǎveanu (DCU) & Dr. Constance de Saint Laurent (Maynooth University).
