Ireland has one of the longest traditions of modern language teaching at university in the world, thanks to the first positions in French, German, Italian and Spanish being established in Trinity College Dublin in 1776. By 2026, we will be celebrating 250 years of modern languages at third level in Ireland. This year, the third and penultimate event of a series which started in 2023 at the RIA is to be held in Mary Immaculate College (MIC) in the morning and the University of Limerick (UL) from lunchtime onwards.

There will be three panels of experts and decision-makers from education, diplomacy, cultural institutions and politics, and a keynote by Patrick O’Donovan, TD and Minister for Arts, Culture, Communications, Media and Sport.

Tickets are FREE, you can register, read the full programme and find more information here
