Get Marathon Ready with DCU
On 22nd September, DCU welcomed over 50 runners from across North Dublin to Glasnevin campus for 'Get Ready for the Dublin Marathon with DCU'.
DCU recognises that the Dublin Marathon is one of the biggest events of the year, where tousands take to the streets to run forty-two kilometres, and even more take to the streets to show their admiration and support. It is truly a wonderful occasion.
DCU also recognises that runners of all abilities and levels of experience enter the Dublin Marathon. The university recosgnised that through the esteemed School of Health & Human Performance and DCU Sport team it can be an asset to the community and its local runners. Through this evening, DCU lecturers and sports insutrctors shared the knowledge, know-how and skills for the benefit of all this year's marathon runners.

The clinic was held in the new Polaris building. The subjects of nutrition, strength and conditioning, injury prevention and sports psychology were discussed by a panel of DCU experts. Attendees also ran through demonstrations, performed by DCU Sport, of exercises that can be done at home or in the gym, ensuring that their body is ready for challenges ahead.
The evening was an excellent night to socialise and meet fellow runners, those who are seasoned veterans, those who are running their first marathon, and those who are running to raise awareness or fundraise for a great cause. Attendees left DCU feeling energised, informed and excited for the challenge ahead! Local clubs in attendance included: Clonliffe Harriers, Raheny Shamrocks, Artane Beamount Run Club, Swords Run Club, Dublin Front Runners, Lambay Sports & Athletics Club, Pastry Pace, Clontarf Running Group, Lusk AC, Castleknock Run Club, Drogheda District AC, and many more.
