Runners Gather for 'Get Marathon Ready with DCU' Series

The univeristy hosted runners from across Dublin, with lecturers speaking about nutrition, strength and conditioning, training and data, injury prevention and race day psychology ahead of Dublin Marathon 2026

With the Dublin Marathon just around the corner on October 25th, the buzz is really starting to build! Over the past month, DCU in the Community and the School of Health and Human Performance welcomed over 80 runners to DCU's Glasnevin campus for the two-part Get Marathon Ready with DCU series.

Both evenings were all about helping runners feel strong, confident, and prepared for the 26.2 miles ahead. But beyond the expert science, it was simply brilliant to see runners from all over coming together over a cup of tea and a sandwich. Sharing training stories, swapping advice, and supporting each other as they prepare for such a massive challenge is exactly what the marathon spirit is all about.

Expert Advice from DCU’s School of Health and Human Performance was shared across the two nights, attendees were treated to insights from six fantastic sports scientists and practitioners who broke down the complexities of marathon training into simple, usable advice for all levels. See presentationsbelow:

Session 1, Monday 7th Sept.

We are wishing all runners the best of luck on the streets of Dublin on October 25th - You’ve put in the hard yards, now go out and enjoy it!
