DCU Welcomes New Arts Council CYPA Dancer-in-Residence, Mónica Muñoz

During her residency, Muñoz will be based in the School of Arts Education and Movement within DCU’s Institute of Education. Bringing a wealth of international experience in dance and education, she will focus on creative engagement, performance, and practice-based research tailored for young audiences.

Muñoz has extensive experience creating work specifically for children and young people. Her practice sits at the intersection of dance performance, education, and early childhood engagement, making her a natural fit for DCU’s Institute of Education - Ireland’s leading centre for teacher training and educational research.

Speaking on the appointment, Úna McCabe, Head of the School of Arts Education and Movement at DCU, said:

Her expertise in dance education and her innovative approach to performance for young audiences will be an incredible asset to our students, staff, and the wider DCU community. We look forward to seeing the creative energy she brings to her residency."

Mónica Muñoz, CYPA Dancer-in-Residence, added:

" I am deeply honoured to take on the role of CYPA Dancer-in-Residence at DCU. Being based within the Institute of Education provides a fantastic platform to explore new ways of connecting students and staff with dance, movement, and creative expression. I look forward to collaborating with the university and local community during my time here."

The residency, supported by the Arts Council, aims to embed rich arts experiences directly into education settings, fostering creative confidence and physical literacy in young people while inspiring student teachers to incorporate dance into their future pedagogical practice.
