The 3rd Quarterly DCU Symposium: Big Data & Financial Services

IC4 in conjunction with DCU Business School would like to invite you to the 3rd DCU Quarterly Symposium on Capital Markets and Fintech taking place on Tuesday the 12th of September 2017 in DCU Alpha.

The increasing volume and variety of data the financial sector generates from customers, transactions, trading activities and other sources, create significant opportunities and challenges for companies operating in this field.

DCU Business School has recently joined the European Capital Markets Cooperative Research Centre, a foundation to promote and facilitate capital markets research amongst research institutions and industry, and has launched the Finance Innovation Group in order to support the Irish financial services industry and to explore the potential impacts of technology innovation on businesses.

This third symposium organised by the Finance Innovation Group at DCU will focus on the role of Big Data in financial services. Data has been used, for example, in fraud detection and risk management, and is increasingly being leveraged to develop new and personalised products and to improve customer experience. However, due to the sensitivity of data typically handled by financial institutions, these are kept under a severe regulatory scrutiny, resulting in the on-going pressure for effective information governance.

This symposium will explore current opportunities and challenges for financial services companies dealing with Big Data from both a business and a technology perspective.

Please Note: This event will take place in DCU Alpha which is located on the Old Finglas road, NOT in DCU's main Campus. Click here for directions.
