Culture Night 2019 at DCU

DCU St Patrick’s Campus will open its doors to the public for Culture Night 2019.

Come explore this remarkable and historic campus in the heart of Drumcondra. Take a tour of the modern library building with magnificent panoramic views over Dublin. View exhibitions of rare books and readings. Enjoy storytelling, live music and children’s activities from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and Oifig na Gaeilge. A cultural treat for all ages.

Reading of Arthur Rimbaud’s Le Bateau Ivre

DCU School of English in conjunction with the Irish Research Council funded Planet Ocean Workshop

A multi-language reading of Arthur Rimbaud’s Le Bateau Ivre - often considered one of the great French modernist poems - in not only the original French but in English, Dutch and other languages. Copies of the various translations will be available on the night for the audience to follow along or even join in! Readers for this unique event include Dr Kit Fryatt and Dr Michael Hinds.

Brew Mbirika

Brew is the singer and guitarist for popular Dublin band Bluesun. His journey and ultimate decision to move to Dublin is the subject of the recent documentary “Brew’d in Dublin” (available online). A homecoming show of sorts, Brew is remembered fondly as a charismatic graduate of DCU St Patrick’s Campus.
