DCUBS Students triumph in FAI Ford
Cup Final with Sporting Fingal
23rd November 2009
DCUBS students Stephen Paisley, Alan Kirby and Eamon Zayed are celebrating
today, having triumphed with Sporting Fingal in the FAI Ford Cup
Final yesterday at Tallaght Stadium.
Stephen and Eamon, both of whom are
students of DCU's MSc in Finance and Capital Markets programme,
and Alan, who is a student of the Bachelor of Business Studies, played key roles in Sporting Fingal's success. The side's win comes
just two years after the club's entrance into the League of Ireland.
Club captain Paisley shored up
the North Dublin club's defence. Midfield stalworth Kirby
pulled the strings in the centre of the park, while star striker Zayed
led the way up front and drew the penalty that levelled the
scores 1-1 in the second half. The win was secured for Fingal in the 91st minute, when centre forward
Gary O'Neill slotted a header past the Sligo Rovers 'keeper.
It has been a phenomenal week
for the players of Sporting Fingal. Their Cup success comes
just six days after the club won promotion to the Premier
Division of the League of Ireland.
Congratulations and continued
success to Stephen, Alan and Eamon from all at DCUBS! |
