DCU Sli na Slainte Walking Routes

Step outside and enjoy the outdoors with DCU’s Slí na Sláinte routes, designed to support health and wellbeing through walking scenic, accessible paths.

From the Glasnevin Campus, enjoy a refreshing walk through Albert College Park (1.8km) or take a loop around the campus itself (1.7km). Both routes are part of the Slí na Sláinte network, developed by the Irish Heart Foundation to encourage regular physical activity in a fun and sociable way.

Download the DCU Slí na Sláinte Walking Routes Leaflet for route maps and tips.

There are many opportunities for you to increase your level of physical activity at DCU. Here are some of our top tips to get you more active on campus.

  • Become a member of the DCU Sports Complex and access the facilities on the Glasnevin Campus, St Patrick's Campus or Morton Stadium.
  • Use the Intercampus bike scheme to travel between campuses (Staff scheme)
  • Join a DCU Sports Club or Society.  There are over 130 to choose from. Browse the full A-Z list of Sports Clubs.
  • Be a smart commuter and use the DCU Smarter Campus travel information to travel to and between campuses
  • DCU staff can avail of the Cycle to Work Scheme through the University. The scheme is a Government tax incentive designed to facilitate employees’ purchase of a bicycle and/or cycle equipment tax-free.
  • You can get your bike serviced for free at the DCU Bike Repair clinics which happen weekly during term time. Information on clinic dates and times is here.
  • Commuting to college? Our shower and changing facilities are available to freshen up before you start your day. Students and staff have free access to showers in the Sports Centre until 9.45 am Monday to Friday

Daily Activity

Let's Participate Dcu Sport

How much activity should you do?

Adults should be active for at least 30 minutes a day of moderate activity,  five days a week, or at least two hours and 30 minutes per week. Moderate activity is when breathing and heart rate increase, but a conversation is still possible. Vigorous activity is when breathing becomes heavy, heart rate becomes faster, and it’s difficult to keep a conversation going.

The HSE has more resources here on ways to get active, and be active regularly.

Get Involved Today!

Whether you’re starting small or diving into a new sport, there’s something for everyone at DCU.  Stay active, stay connected, and make movement part of your daily life.
