DCU Shines at IUAA Cross Country Championships
DCU Athletics ladies team
The IUAA Inter Varsity Cross Country championships were held at Tymon Park, Dublin on Saturday October 11th. DCU were the defending champions in the Women’s 5K event and produced another excellent performance to retain the title. Aimee Wallace led the team home in third place individually and was well supported by Avril Millerick, Niamh Brady and Ava Costello who completed the scoring quartet. Charlotte Carprendale, Eleanor Foot, Eimear Hughes and Emma Landers provided raced excellently in support.
Finn Woodger competing in the Mixed Relay
The Mixed 4 x 1km event was introduced this year and the DCU team provided an excellent display of middle-distance running to comfortably win. Finn Woodger established a lead on the initial leg that was subsequently extended by Niamh Murray, Hazel Hughes and Oisin Kelly.
DCU men's team
We fielded a very young team in the Men’s 8km race and placed fourth with Cian Gorham, Jack McMahon, Matthew Fitzpatrick, Lorcan Benjacar, Ross Killalea and Conor Sherwin scoring. Christian Finn, Micheal O’Shea and Cillian Chambers completed the team.
