Student Sport Ireland Opportunities for Students 2026-2027
We’re delighted to highlight three fantastic opportunities now open to DCU students through Student Sport Ireland(SSI) for the 2026–2027 academic year. These programmes offer meaningful pathways for students to grow as leaders, coaches, and contributors to student sport at both university and national level. Below, we’ve outlined the key details, benefits, and application processes for each initiative.
1. SSI Student Ambassador
SSI is delighted to announce that the SSI Student Ambassador Open Call is now live. The Student Ambassador Programme offers a unique opportunity for students to become active leaders in shaping the future of student sport, both at DCU and nationally. This is a volunteer position and one position will be filled through an open call to the wider student body in each respective HEI, while the second will be reserved for a nominee from each HEI. To apply for the Student Ambassador Programme, complete the online application. The deadline for applications is Wednesday the 29th of April 2026 at 5pm. For further information on the SSI Student Ambassador roles visit the SSI website. For any queries, please contact info@studentsport.ie
2. SSI Student Activators
The SSI Student Activator initiative is a developmental opportunity that allows students to train and develop as leaders of sports activities, while assisting their sports departments in the organisation, promotion and facilitation of participation programmes and events for the student population. There are 2 positions available at DCU for 2026-2027 and Student Activators will avail of the following benefits:
- A financial bursary of €1,600 per activator (dependant on the Student Activator meeting programme requirements)
