Andrea Vargiu - Dept of Sociology, Sassasi University, Italy
Andrea Vargiu is associate professor of Sociology at the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences of the University of Sassari (Italy) and President of the MA Course in Social work and Social policies. He coordinates the Foist Laboratory for Social Policies and Training Processes. The Foist Lab was founded in 1977 by Prof. Alberto Merler to promote equitable co-operation between community and university. Foist is a member of the Living Knowledge network, the international network of Science Shops.
Andrea has been recently appointed as Rector’s delegate for the Third mission (Humanities and Social Sciences area) of the University of Sassari.
With a solid record in action research and CBR, Andrea studies civic engagement of universities, social policies and organized solidarity.
He has been involved in EU funded projects such as PERARES - Public Engagement with Research and Research Engagement with Society (7thFP) and, more recently, EnRRICH - Enhancing Responsible Research and Innovation through Curricula in Higher education (H2020, WP6 coordinator). Presently in Allthings.BioPRO – Game changere for the bio-based economy (H2020).
He co-ordinates the Italian hub of the K4C – Knowledge for Change programme which is led by the UNESCO chair in Community Based Research and Responsibility of Higher Education.
He presently co-ordinates impact evaluation of National and Regional projects to contrast educational poverty in Italy.
