We at the Centre for Engaged Research wish to promote and facilitate more meaningful and impactful research through Engaged Research practices. Active engagement with society; such as with community organisations or vulnerable and/or marginalised groups, can offer indispensable knowledge and in turn play a key role in addressing social issues and policy-making. Actively involving the public in the research process empowers the community to positively influence change, be it at a local, county, or national level. Through Engaged Research the subject, the community, is placed at the heart of the research project and included throughout the various research stages.
Engaged Research is not only a more inspiring ideal for academia, it is also a more promising basis for a just and sustainable society.
