September 2022 courses

Our QQI accredited programmes are a collaboration between the Community and Family Training Agency Ltd (a QQI registered provider), and DCU in the Community (a collaborative provider). As the QQI registered provider, the validation, quality assurance and certification for the programme rests with the Community and Family Training Agency Ltd.

 

CAFTA Ltd will ensure that all learners are able to make informed choices regarding the programmes and enter programmes without unnecessary barriers. CAFTA Ltd will support learners to successfully complete programmes, and will encourage and inform learners about different progression routes that are open to them on completion of their QQI programmes.

 

Bridge to Education QQI Level 5

Are you considering returning to higher education? The Bridge to Education programme will help you prepare, personally and academically, for returning to third level education.

It will equip you with the knowledge, skills and competencies you can use in your future study and in the workplace, and give you the confidence boost needed to take the next step in your education and career.

What will be covered?

— Learning styles and strategies

— Setting goals and mapping your experience

— Study skills

— Communication and presentation skills

— Information technology – computers for college and the workplace

— DCU guest speaker talks

Successful participants will receive three QQI Level 5 component awards:

— Communications

— Research and Study Skills

— Personal and Professional Development

  • Start: 19th September 2022
  • Duration: 12 weeks, Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays, 10.00am - 1.00pm
  • Venue: DCU in the Community, Shangan Road, Ballymun
  • Course Fee: €100 (€50 for medical card holders) The fee includes certification and all course materials
  • Enrolments: Application form and short interview

 

Psychology QQI Level 5

This course is for those interested in the study of human behavior and human mind. It is designed to provide learners with an introductory understanding of psychology as a field of study.

The course will have a strong focus on connecting the theory of psychology to practice, such as therapies and interventions linked with the major psychological perspectives.

Topics include:

— Introduction to psychology as a discipline

— Main psychological perspectives

— Personality: features and personality assessments

— Social psychology: characteristics, conformity, group behaviours

— Abnormal psychology: classifications and diagnoses

— Therapies and interventions

— Ethics in the study of psychology

— Research skills

— DCU guest speaker talks

  • Start: 16th September 2022
  • Duration: 12 weeks, Fridays, 10.00am - 1.00pm
  • Venue: DCU in the Community, Shangan Road, Ballymu
  • Course Fee: €60 (€40 for medical card holders) The fee includes certification and all course materials
  • Enrolments: Application form and short essay

 

Community Organisation Management QQI Level 6

The course provides an insight into the theory and practice of management and leadership in community organisations with a strong focus on developing leadership capacity. The programme is specifically designed to support those currently employed or volunteering within the community sector and who are giving consideration to progressing to managerial roles, board memberships in the sector, or to further and higher education in this area.

Topics include:

— Community development theory

— Analysis of the community and voluntary sector and policy context

— Leadership and management theories

— Leadership in the community

— Organisational theory

— Developing organisational vision and mission

— Organisational structures and processes

— Financial management

— Governance in community and voluntary sector

— Expert guest speakers and virtual site visits

  • Start: 20th September 2022
  • Duration: 12 weeks, Tuesdays, 10.00am - 3.00pm
  • Venue: Sillogue Neighbourhood Centre, Sillogue Road, Dublin 11
  • Course Fee: €200 (the fee includes certification and all course materials)
