FIDERH Funding for Mexican Students
The Fondo para el Desarrollo de Recursos Humanos (FIDERH) is a federal trust fund managed by the Central Bank of Mexico, designed to provide affordable, long-term financing to Mexican students pursuing postgraduate studies abroad. DCU is a FIDERH-recognised institution and is pleased to offer exclusive tuition fee support to eligible students to help you achieve your postgraduate study goals.

FIDERH offers a competitive financing option that allows students to focus on their studies without the immediate pressure of repayment.
- Loans can cover tuition fees, as well as living and health insurance expenses.
- There are generally no administrative costs during your studies and no interest or repayments are required while you are actively enrolled in your programme.
- Repayment schedules are highly flexible. Repayments typically begin one year after graduation, with extended terms that make the transition to your professional career easier.

To apply for a FIDERH loan for your studies at DCU, you must meet the following criteria:
- Be a Mexican national.
- Hold an unconditional offer letter from Dublin City University for one-year, full-time taught postgraduate (masters) programmes.
- Meet the specific academic and English Language Requirements set by DCU.
- Provide a co-signer (guarantor) based in Mexico.
The application process for the FIDERH loan is separate from your application to DCU.
- Apply to DCU: Submit your application for your chosen postgraduate programme through the DCU Student Application Portal. Ensure you hold an offer letter.
- Apply to FIDERH: Visit the FIDERH website to review the current call for applications. Ensure your DCU start date aligns with the relevant FIDERH application window.
- Confirm your Tuition Support: Once you have secured your place and FIDERH funding, contact brenda.meira@dcu.ie to confirm your eligibility for the €2,000 Scholarship. Please note that only 10 eligible students will receive this scholarship.
Postgraduate non-EU fee-paying full-time programmes in the Faculty of Engineering and Computing, Science and Health, Humanities and Social Sciences, Business School and Institute of Education.
To apply for a FIDERH educational loan, you must participate during one of the open call periods (convocatorias).
First convocatoria 2026 (Closed)
- Call for Applications (Convocatoria) Published: 15th of December 2025
- Submission Window (Recepción de expedientes): 26th January-9th February 2026
- Results Published: 20th of March 2026
Second convocatoria 2026 (Open)
- Call for Applications (Convocatoria) Published: 16th of February 2026
- Submission Window (Recepción de expedientes): 13th-28th of April
- Results Published: 19th June 2026
Understanding (Convocatoria) Key Dates
- Call for Applications (Convocatoria) Published: On this date, FIDERH officially publishes the rules, requirements and the digital application portal for the upcoming cycle. Before this date, you cannot start your formal online application. This is when you should check the official FIDERH website to confirm if any requirements have changed for the year.
- Submission Window (Recepción de expedientes): During these two weeks, you must physically deliver or submit your complete application file (‘expediente’), this include DCU offer letter, budget, and guarantor documents to the FIDERH offices. Note: If you miss this window, you cannot apply in this cycle.
- Publicación de resultados: The announcement of winners. FIDERH publishes the list of students who have been successfully selected for a loan. You will know officially if you have the funding secured to proceed with your travel and enrolment plans at DCU.
